Composite Doors – These doors have witnessed a surge in popularity over recent years due to their outstanding security features and thermal performance. As the name suggests, composite doors consist of multiple materials, all chosen for beneficial properties that allow manufacturers to ‘design out’ flaws in older style doors. These materials include an internal insulating foam core that improves a home’s energy efficiency as well as a GRP (glass reinforced plastic) outer skin which provides outstanding protection against weathering and temperature fluctuations.
With customisable qualities too, composite doors offer homeowners in Harrogate, Ilkley, Keighley and the surrounding areas the opportunity for home improvement with self-expression.
Bi-Folding Doors – For a stylish, transformative addition to the rear of your property, consider bi-folding doors. This feature consists of multiple, attached glazed panels which, when opened, concertina up against a wall. They provide a panoramic view of, and flowing access to, the garden space beyond. Due to their mostly glazed nature, bi-folding doors also drastically increase the amount of natural light streaming into your property.
French Doors – Traditionally, French doors consist of two identical doors hung side by side. In most cases, they open outward, creating a spacious, airy route into the garden. Over time, the term ‘patio doors’ has incorrectly been used to describe this feature. Patio doors only refer to the sliding variety, as introduced below.
Sliding Doors – These doors usually consist of two large glass windows. One remains static, while the other, the door, glides along a track for smooth, easy opening and closing. These simple yet highly effective installations create a wider access point to the garden when compared with standard doors, allowing for improved fresh air and natural light.
Double Glazing – A ubiquitous design feature on homes in Harrogate, Ilkley and throughout West and North Yorkshire, double glazing consists of two glass panes within the same frame separated by a vacuum. Modern designs usually fill this vacuum with an inert gas, most commonly argon, which has 34% lower thermal conductivity than air. This makes modern double glazing far more effective at stopping the transfer of heat through the windows, thus helping to reduce energy bills.
